Project RAISE One Million (PR1M) Strategy
We are aware that there are many groups all around the country that are very interested and particularly passionate about youth education and empowerment. Many are very concerned about the present state of the educational system, especially the massive failure rates among students taking JAMB and WAEC. You are welcome to plug in and help make the goal of PR1M a reality.
Visible Impact, the principle of the Project RAISE initiative, will be implementing a pilot project in Lagos State. This is because of the the need to focus and collate information and best practices that can later be translated into the national scheme.
Other states are welcome to join in help kids pass JAMB & WAEC. Many of our partners, including The Ken Katas Youth Foundation, are already involved and making headways in getting SS3 students to pass JAMB & WAEC. Project RAISE One Million is simply a movement or platform for all these groups to unite and pursue a systematic process that will in the end provide a measurable goal.
PR1M will serve as a platform or link for all these groups and parties to:
1. Inspire and motivate a movement to get 1 Million students to pass JAMB and earn at least 5 credits in WAEC including Math and English by 2010.
2. Provide a program structure for activities including book drive and mentoring that can be adapted by various groups and parties concerned.
3. Provide an adaptable and unified reading schedule that can be used for students to achieve success.
Visible Impact as a company will be implementing the following programmes in 2010.
ACADEMIC STRATEGY
FAST TRAK - Develop a reading list schedule outlaying the crucial and essential topics needing mastery to improve scores on JAMB & WAEC. This majorly involves the most recurring topics in every subject, complied by volunteer educationist and other experts who have vast experience in the subject matters.
This reading schedule will be in a simple downloadable format or PDF.
LEARNING CENTRES
We are establishing learning centres where students can come and receive free prep classes for JAMB & WAEC. We are already working with Education District IV in Lagos. We are presently running free prep classes in Mathematics at the Surulere Girls Senior Secondary School.
NEEDS DRIVE
The needs drive strategy involves assessing the needs of student to identify the essential instruments that will empower students to succeed in their exam. These will include generic needs like Mathematical Sets, Four Figure Tables, Pencils, Sharpeners, etc. We will work with corporate sponsor to fund 'en masse' supply of generic needs to students. The sponsors could brand these items so that the students remember who helped them achieve their dream.
Below are the highlights of the major components of the Needs Drive (Book Drive & Exam Success Kits)
BOOK DRIVES – we are encouraging those with used books stored up in the houses to bring it out so that it can be used by a student who needs it. Simply tell your friends and relations to bring out the books, collect the books and drop them at our collection centre or that of our partners.
1. Groups and Individuals could conduct the Book Drive and we'll come and collect it, making sure it gets to where its needed
2. Groups and parties will take on the initiative to host book drives as just one project that they will like to be a part of.

EXAM SUCCESS KITS
Some capable students fail JAMB & WAEC simply because they do not have rite tools (like the right HB pencil to write the exam). The plan is to empower them to a point where there is almost no reason for failure. Thus, by providing exam kits with the necessary items we can achieve this. We believe that if we as a movement must help our students pass, we must help them to the end.
The exam kits are intended to equip JAMB students with the right materials in a handy-bag containing;
Math set (for those taking mathematic)
Pencil (JAMB & WAEC specification)
Four Figure Table (branded if approved by WAEC)
Pamphlet/Booklet to motivate them
